Tour Gulf of Poets: Lerici Islands Palmaria and Tino Tinetto and Portovenere Boarding from: La Spezia or Portovenere

The Gulf of Poets, a name that contains in its meaning centuries of culture and charm described by the pen of noble writers from Shelley to Byron.
A deep inlet of the coast of the Ligurian Sea, the eastern end of Liguria which is named La Spezia
The first villages we meet, starting from La Spezia  harbor , are  Portovenere and Lerici famous for their natural attractions, for their history, and placed one against another, the two ends of the bay.

Traveling on a boat, is the best way to admire the beauty of these enchanting shores.
During the trip you can admire the beautiful cove called Seno delle Grazie, which reflects, in its clear emerald waters, an ancient shrine to the Virgin until you cross the magnificent bay where, opposite the Island of Palmaria, Portovenere appears; tourist center dominated by the old castle and features multi-colored houses.

A boat trip around the island Palmaria, in front of Portovenere, with the islands of Tino and Tinetto, you can visit the Grotta Azzurra, the summit, the Grotta dei Colombi, ancient Stone Age human habitation.
On the island of Tino, topped by a lighthouse, are the ruins of the Abbey of St. Venerio, erected in the eleventh century, the place where the holy hermit had lived alone and where, after death, as the legend goes, was buried by a host of angels.

Arriving at Lerici, we recommend a stop at the charming town of San Terenzo, known for having hosted celebrities such as English poets Byron and Shelley, the writer and scientist Paolo Mantegazza and dramatist Sem Benelli.
The country is dominated by the castle, built to defend the pirates, who rises to the top of a rocky promontory, called Tana dei Turchi, a cave, so called because, according to legend, killed many Saracens.
At the foot of the castle the old part of town, an arc that stretches along the sea, while the modern climbs, panoramic, towards the hills behind.

And here we are at Lerici, fishing center and resort on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Spezia.
Popular seaside resort surrounded by gardens and villas, is dominated by an impressive castle, the fairest of Liguria, one of the most famous architectural models of the Middle Ages.
Continuing our tour Tellaro is reached, the last village on the eastern Gulf of Poets.
Admiring the sea, we discover the charm of this country: arches and narrow streets, houses red or yellow and a small church nestled on the last spur of rock.
